Great Dining in Williamsburg Va!

July 18th, 2012 by wdtp

Great Food and Cold Beer!

Just as you think Williamsburg has added its last restaurant, we now see another option open in Merchant Square. What could be better than a Pub right down the street from the Inn? The Dog Street Pub opened its doors just a few weeks ago and is getting rave reviews. Reasonably priced, great beer and awesome food makes this a “do not miss” place to go. Enjoy the Summer Breeze concerts right in Merchant Square before or after dinner every Wednesday! Don’t forget, we are just a short walk down the street from great restaurants, shops, art gallery and outdoor concerts.

Colonial Williamsburg Tavern Dining

Colonial Dining in Williamsburg

When Visiting Williamsburg, Dining in a Colonial Tavern is similar to enjoying dinner with the Characters in Disneyworld. If you truly want to enjoy the Colonial experience, the taverns will provide you with wonderful memories to talk about for years. Colonial Williamsburg offers several choices in Taverns and we will be more than happy to assist you with reservations and information regarding each one. They are all located in the Historic area which starts just 4  1/2 blocks down the street from A Williamsburg White House Inn. One of the most popular tavern is Christiana Campbell Tavern, better known as George Washington’s favorite tavern.  George Washington was a faithful customer to this tavern.  It is a popular choice for our guests who enjoy seafood dishes.

The Kings Arms Tavern is another popular choice and leans more toward the “meat eater”.  Today, the Historic Taverns serve Colonial Dishes in a casual atmosphere that offer 18th century flavor.

Whatever your preference for dining,  a Colonial Tavern will certainly add to a wonderful dining experience. Reservations fill quickly for busy times of the year so make sure you let us help you with these early in your planning process. If you plan to visit over the holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas, we highly recommend the Taverns as “the place to dine”.  Average meals range $22-36. per entree.

Our Favorite Williamsburg Restaurants

Great Dining Experience in Williamsburg.

Staying at A Williamsburg White House enables our guests to park their car in the front of the Inn and walk down the street to Colonial Williamsburg.  Merchant Square is located just 6/10th  mile down beautiful Jamestown Road.  You will walk along side the College of William and Mary campus as you enjoy your stroll to Merchant Square.

Once you arrive in Merchant Square, this is the beginning of the Historic Colonial Williamsburg area. There are numerous shops and dining opportunities available to our guests. Depending on your preference for fine dining, casual dining or quick food, the options are exciting. For that special dinner while you are vacationing in Williamsburg, the Fat Canary is our first choice. This contemporary style fine dining restaurant is small and exquisite. Due to its size, reservations are suggested as early as possible in your vacation planning. Their seasonal menus blend local flavors for outstanding combinations. Prices for their entrees range from approximately $28-38 per person. If you are celebrating a special occasion, make sure to mention it when making your reservation by phone. If you decide to take your chances and go without reservations you can usually enjoy dinner at the Bar or weather permitting, outside on the patio.

Get there early and enjoy a cocktail at the bar while you wait but make sure you save room for desert! You can find all the information you need to make your reservation on their website as well as sample menus. http://www.fatcanarywilliamsburg.com/home.html

If you are staying at our Williamsburg Inn, we will be happy to make those reservations for you, just call us at 866-229-8580
